Here’s a short description of my husband’s Asperger traits. He’s never been officially diagnosed, but we both feel he meets the diagnostic criteria. We haven’t seen any reason to get him officially diagnosed. 44 Be Careful What You Wish For 45 My husband can’t whisper, he speaks loudly all of the time, he can’t understand facial expressions, he can’t “read” mood cues, he’ll bump into every single person he passes in a crowded room and not realize it, he can “play back” a movie, scene by scene. He’s unable to make the “leaps” in conversations – the kind of leaps most people can make, such as when it is obvious that the speaker is talking about, say, the hairdresser and not the woman getting her hair cut.
