ULE/GSE Unidirectional Lightweight Encapsulation (ULE) mechanism permits the transport of IPv4 and IPv6 datagrams and other network protocol packets directly over the MPEG2 Transport Stream as TS Private Data. The introduction of Generic Streams by DVB-S2 makes necessary a new encapsulation, the Generic Stream Encapsulation, that relies in some fundamental design choices of ULE. Within the SATSIX project these two protocols are mainly considered for IPv6 encapsulation support. Their processing will impact not only on the OBP but also on the ground segment equipment.
Afterwards, when the train leaves the train station, it handovers to the satellite network again. Users in the train can communicate with CNs (Correspondent nodes) through MR (Mobile Router) in the train. NEMO BS (Network Mobility Basic Support), specified as RFC 3963 [7], adds a mobility function to IPv6 routers. It hides the address change of the mobile router and provides the nodes inside the mobile network with transparent access to the Internet. The users in the train can use static IPv6 addresses that do not change.
