La recherche vise à établir des connaissances objectives des différents environnements où se meut l’entreprise ; elle sert donc à réduire les incertitudes dans la prise de décision et l’ensemble des risques inhérents à la vie économique. L’objectif de la recherche sera donc, pour l’industrie touristique, d’accroître les connaissances et de réduire, le plus possible, les effets des phénomènes aléatoires sur les actions projetées. L’acquisition de ces connaissances suppose l’établissement d’un système d’information construit en fonction des objectifs de la firme ; on doit aussi imaginer une façon concrète d’utiliser ces informations dans les décisions courantes.
